CFSI in association with Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC) and High Commission of India on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations in October 2014, had organized a variety programme in the Multipurpose Hall at IGCIC, Phoenix, Mauritius. H.E. Shri Anup Kumar Mudgal, High Commissioner of India was the Chief Guest. The programme was well attended by over 200 people comprising of important local dignitaries, people from armed forces, senior officials of the eight Indian Public sector undertakings, staff of the High Commission and representatives of over 20 local schools with the 15 Prize Winners who participated in the essay competition organized by the Centre.


The Programme was inaugurated with welcome address of H.E. High Commissioner of India followed by the short film screening “Bapu Ne Kaha Tha” and presentation of famous bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi by the students of IGCIC. The main attraction of the programme was the presentation of essays by the prize winners of the twenty participating schools, the programme concluded with planting of sapling by the eminent people.


The programme was covered by Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation and interview of our High Commissioner and prize winners were taken by them for national television.
