Biography
Nagendra Bahuguna
Born in Allahabad, Nagendra Bahuguna
graduated with Science from Lucknow University. He
worked for ayear as a statistical officer in Indore
and then came to Bombay. He met the well-known film
producer-director Kidar Sharma, with whom he has worked
over the years in a long and fruitful association.
He closely helped sharma in the making of the feature
film "Shokiyan", Bahuguna joined the Children's
Film Scoeity for a spell as assistant to Erza Mir
and his film projects. It was Mir that gave Bahuguna
the opportunity to choose the subject he liked and
direct a film for CFS. The world of commercial film
making then beckoned Bahuguna, where he is employed.
He worked mostly with old-time film associate Lekh
Tandon. |
| Synopsis
This film deals with the Bihar Famine, and the role
of children in times of a national crisis and how
they can help to save and collect money and material
for such a cause. When given the opportunity to direct
this film, Bahuguna with the goodwill and respect
he enjoyed in the film community was able to introduce
the novel idea of casting film starts in this film
who agreed to work for next to nothing and as subsidiary
figures to the children featured in it. The film uses
patriotic songs composed by Vasant Desai and recorded
at the occasion when they were sung by thousand of
children at Shivaji Park for Vijalakshmi Pandit when
she was the Governor of Bombay.
