| MUMBAI: Khuda Ke Liye, the first ever Pakistani film to
be featured at IFFI, received a standing inovation at the
end of both the Sunday screenings. This is director Shoaib
Mansoor’s debut in feature films.
Much appreciated by the audience, the film was watched by
well-known industry personalities like Sudhir Mishra, Nafisa
Ali, Kavita Choudhary and M. S. Sathyu.
The film revolves around the travails of a liberal Muslim
family and deals with sensitive issues like fundamentalism
and discrimination of Muslims post 9/11. Playing the role
of an Islamic scholar is Indian actor Naseerudin Shah. Though
it is a small cameo, it is very significant to the story.
Shaan, the Pakistani superstar, plays the lead role of Mansoor.
Whether the film gets a commercial release in the country
remains to be seen. |
