HYDERABAD: The 16th International
Children’s Film Festival would commence here from November
14, Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy
announced here today. The week-long festival, to be jointly organised
by the Andhra Pradesh Government and Children’s Film Society
of India (CSFI), would be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Rosaiah
at Lalita Kala Thoranam. The festival would screen as many as 70
films from various countries. As part of the film festival, the
school education department has already selected five children from
each district in the State and nominate them as delegates. The organisers
have also urged the Tourism Department to provide tourism information
kits and also organise local site seeing tours for the delegates.
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ambika Soni would
be the chief guest and noted filmmaker, writer, poet, lyricist Gulzar
would be present on the occasion among other prominent personalities.
The movies would be screened at eight venues including Imax theatre
in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Geeta Reddy said
adding `Lalitkala thoranam’ will be the main venue where the
inaugural and concluding ceremonies will be held. CFSI CEO Sushovan
Banerjee and I&PR & Managing Director C Partha Sarathi were
also present on the occasion among others.
