The Mission of CFSI is to facilitate promotion of children's
films by encouraging, strengthening and spreading the Children's
Film Movement all over the country and abroad.

The Chairperson, who is an eminent personality
in the field of Cinema, heads the Society. The Chairperson
is also the head of the Executive Council and the General
Body, members of which are nominated by the Government of
India.

The organization is engaged in the task of production, acquisition,
distribution and promotion of children's films through the
following activities:
- Production of both 35mm & 16mm children films both
inhouse as well as on Assignment basis.
- Theatrical & Non-Theatrical Exhibition (35mm &
16mm)
- Organising Film shows through Distributors
- Film Festivals - District level and State level Film Festivals
- Sale of VHS Cassettes.
- Telecast - Doordarshan & Satellite Channels.
- Organisation of Film Bonanzas.
- Bal Chitra Manch.
- Animation & Film-making Workshops
- Participation in International Film Festivals
- Children's Day - 14th November screening.
- Organisation of International Competitive Children's Film
Festival once every two years with a view to encourage exchange
of ideas between film-makers and children and enable children
to view the best of International Children's Cinema.

Statement of Services provided
Children's Film Society, India provides the following services
listed client-wise:
Prospective Film-makers
An opportunity to make a children's film by entering into
an agreement with the Director of the Film (after the Synopsis,
Script Budget etc. have been approved).
In fact, after the proposal for making a children's film
(in Form 'A') submitted by an outside Producer/Executive Director,
is approved by the Script/Production Committee along with
~ D.D. for Rs.1000/- it goes back to the applicant for submitting
a detailed screenplay (in form 'B' along with a DD of Rs.3000/-)
which is then circulated among the Script Committee members.
Once the screenplay is approved by the Script Committee, it
places the proposal before the Producer/Finance Committee
for final stage of production, which then goes into the budget
of the film to be made. On approval by the Production/Finance
Committee, Agreement for the production of film is being entered
between CFSI and the film maker who has submitted the proposal
In case of any difference between CFSI and Executive Producer,
arbitration clause could be used. The details of the payment
to be made to the Executive Producer/Director are regulated
as follows:
- On signing the agreement and : 20% of the total agreement
Submission of Bank guarantee.
Equivalent to 20% 0 the agreement.
- On commencement of shooting : 30%
- On approval of rough cut by the Committee
which includes Chairperson. : 30%
- 0n submission of entire material and :20%
certification of the film by the CBFC.
Film Distributors / Organisers
Film Distributors can hire prints of films from CFSI for various
types of screening by paying the relevant hire charges.
School Children
CFSI conducts theatrical/non-theatrical screenings of children's
films for the benefit of children all over the country.
Schools. Govt. Organlsations. Pvt. Institutions/Individuals
These authorities can buy VHS cassettes of CFSI films
for viewing. The cost of one VHS cassette is Rs.300/- whereas
the price of CD is as below:
One film CD : Rs.100/-
More than one film CD : Rs.150/-
T. V. Channels
CFSI provides films for screening to T. V.channels who can
provide entertainment to their audience.
District & State Authorities
During the Golden Jubilee Film Festival in November 2006
at Delhi, the Honourable Minister of Information and Broadcasting,
Govt of India announced that there will be no charges to be
taken from children for film shows organised by CFSI with
effect from 1.4.2007
A forum/platform for organizing children's film seminars workshops
(animation, video, film appreciation, script-writing), Bonanzas,
International Competitive Children's Film Festival.

International/National Film Producers/Directors
CFSI invites them to be members of Juries for the International
Film Festival.
It forms a channelizing agency for children's films under
the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Children's
films to be imported/exported and being handled through diplomatic
bag of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Vendors/Service Suppliers
CFSI makes prompt payment to all vendors/service suppliers.
Expectation from the Clients/Customers
CFSl's main objective is to reach out to children both in
urban and rural areas. It tries to reach out to its target
by Production & Exhibition of its films through its various
activities. Thus, CFSI expects to maintain a healthy working
relationship with its clients and citizens and sort out problems
(if any) amicably.
Grievance Redressal Mechanism
CFSI redresses any grievance from a prospective Filmmaker
or Exhibitor or any other Authority or person by acknowledging
receipt of the grievance within 3 days and then looking into
the matter/sorting it out on a priority basis.
In-built Schedule for Periodic Review
CFSI undertakes a monthly review of its activities/tasks. |
